Some of the more observant members will have noted a missing photo on the Board Honour Roll close to the entrance desk of our Club. Mr Dave Rankin has stepped down as a member of the Board for personal reasons.
Dave has been a much-valued RSL Club stalwart for many years having served for 18 years as the Finance Manager, a further 19 years as a part-time contractor. He has been on the Board for 11 years and has made a sterling and much appreciated effort!
Dave’s sage input to Board deliberations, particularly around financial management, will be sorely missed. We all wish Dave the very best and hope his future endeavours (real retirement!) will be completely enjoyable. We know we’ll still see him around the Club on a regular basis.
Dave’s retirement creates a casual vacancy on the Board which, in accordance with Section 35 of our Constitution, gives the authority for the Board to select and fill a casual vacancy:
“35.2 The Board shall have power at any time and from time to time, to appoint any eligible person to the Board to fill a casual vacancy. The person so appointed shall hold office only until the conclusion of the following Biennial General Meeting.”
It gives me great pleasure, following the Board’s unanimous approval, in welcoming Mr Don Hassan to fill this casual vacancy. Don is a well-qualified and certified company director who brings a wealth of commercial and community experience and skills, which will be well utilised in the months leading up to the Annual General Meeting in November when full Board elections will be made.
Please join with me in welcoming Don to the Board.
